Friendly Build & Fix was founded by us, Joh and Dani, a husband-and-wife team who believe building should feel a whole lot better than most people expect.
Joh grew up building alongside his dad on the family farm, where he first discovered the satisfaction of working with his hands. As a young adult, he trained as a joiner and cabinetmaker, learning the value of detail and pride in craftsmanship. After a few years in the corporate world, he realised what really made him happy, creating and building things that last. He brings that same “no shortcuts” mindset to every job, whether it’s restoring a weathered deck, crafting a custom detail, or managing a full renovation.
Dani is the organiser and communicator, making sure nothing falls through the cracks. She keeps projects running smoothly and clients in the loop, so the process feels clear, calm, and easy, never stressful.

We started Friendly Build & Fix in Wellington, where we were lucky to work with some wonderful clients who quickly felt more like friends. Now we’re based in Warkworth, bringing with us the same values that shaped our business from the start: honesty, care, respect, and quality work done right.
At the heart of it, we’re just people who love what we do. Joh’s happiest with tools in hand, whether building, restoring, creating custom furniture, or out fishing when he gets the chance. His favourite project is a table he made for his dad from an old woolshed shearing table, a piece that still makes him smile. Dani keeps every client supported and up to date. Together, we’ve built this business around one simple idea: to show people just how good their experience with a builder can be.
